WHICH COUNTRIES CAN GO TO IRAN WITHOUT VISA? From the list of the countries that can travel to Iran, 9 countries don’t need a visa for Iran. Of course, each of these countries’ citizens can stay for a set duration of time in Iran.

IRAN VISA POLICY FOR BRITISH, CANADIAN, AND AMERICAN TRAVELERS

Travelers from the US, the UK, and Canada fall under a category of their own. Because of these countries relations with Iran, visitors from these countries’ are treated with a fixed set of regulations before traveling to Iran. Iran visa policy may be subjected differently to the citizens of these countries, but Iranians still gladly receive these travelers and make them feel at home. If you belong to this group, you are required to:

  • Plan your trip and decide on an Iran travel package (even if you are traveling to Iran alone)
  • Apply for your Iran visa through an accredited travel agency
  • Decide where you want to collect your visa
  • Attain an authorization code from a travel agency in Iran
  • Collect your visa before entering Iran once it’s approved
  • Be accompanied by a certified, Iranian tour guide throughout their trip

Note: American travelers can get their Iran visa from the Interest Section of Iran in Pakistan embassy in Washington, and save time and money by doing so instead of getting their Iran visa from an Iran embassy (or consulate-general) of another country.

Tip: If you hold an American, British, or Canadian passport, your Iran visa approval usually takes 40 business days. But on occasions, the process can take up to 3 months. So it’s recommended that you apply for your Iran visa a couple of months in advance.

Iran visa free trade zones

IRAN FREE TRADE ZONES

To enter Iran’s free trade and industrial zones, you don’t need to get an Iran visa. You can stay in any of these Iran free zones without a visa for as long as 30 days. If you plan on staying more than that, then getting an Iran visa is mandatory.

Iran free trade zones are:

Tip:  Getting an Iran visa for these trade zones is much easier for a Us, Britain, and Canada citizen than accessing mainland Iran. But you should remember that getting a visa at the port of entry is only possible if you fly in directly to a free zone in Iran, e.g. Kish island.

Note: Iran Entry visa or Iran business visa needs an invitation letter from your Iranian host. Although, an Iran business visa is valid only for 14 days.

Iran visa policy for children

To enter Iran, similar to all other countries, children have a specific set of rules their guardians or parents must follow to ensure that they will have a safe and trouble-free trip.

If your child is 2 or younger, obtaining an Iran visa for them is not necessary. A paper will be issued stating that a child is traveling with you, but that is all.

If your child is older than 2 and younger than 18, their parent or legal guardian can apply on their behalf.

  • Your Iran visa application must include documentary evidence of your relationship to your child; Their Passport.
  • A picture of your child must also be included in the visa form. One that your baby is lies his or her back on a plain white or off-white sheet. Their eyes must be open, and their face should not be obscured.

From the year 2011, getting an Iran visa without Iran travel insurance became mandatory. This Iran visa policy was put into effect to ensure the safety of all who travel to Iran. On top of that, after the US sanctions against Iran and the restrictions about traveling to this country, many travel insurance companies stopped offering services for travelers going to Iran. That’s why even if you already have travel insurance, you must get your Iran travel insurance separately to get your Iran visa.

Iran visa photography specifications

Digital Image specifications required in case you apply for your Iran visa online:

  1. Picture must be taken within the last 6 months to show your current appearance
  2. In JPEG (.jpg) file format
  • In a rectangular aspect ratio; (600×400 dimension)
  1. File must be no bigger than 500kb and no smaller than 10kb
  2. In front of a plain white or off-white background
  3. Dress casually or in a business attire
  • No one else should be in the photo with you
  • A full-face view directly facing the camera, face not tilted in any direction
  1. Hair off your face, so that the edges of your face are visible
  2. Neutral expression, no smiling or frowning
  3. Use good lighting so the face has the same amount of light on every part.
  • Eyes wide open, mouth closed

you cannot:

  • Wear a hat
  • Wear glasses
  • Wear headphones or earphones

Note: You should provide a medical statement signed by a medical professional or a health practitioner if you can’t take your glasses off for your Iran visa picture.

IRAN VISA EXTENSION POLICIES

To extend the duration of your Iran visa, you must visit the Iranian Immigration and Passport Police office in any of the major cities of Iran. You should:

  • Provide the reason why you want to extend the duration of your stay in Iran
  • Pay the Iran visa extension fee (not in cash)
  • Have two hard copies of the first page of your passport
  • Two pictures of yourself with the specifications mentioned above
