1. Abyaneh Village

The reddish colours of the adobe dwellings distinguish the 1,500-year-old settlement of Abyaneh. Because of an unusually high quantity of iron oxide, the soil of the Abyaneh area has a reddish, lovely tint that distinguishes it even more.

Its permanent population has shrunk to just a few hundred people. The dwellings are built on top of each other, which is a unique feature of this town in mountainous terrain.

Over the ages, the language, architecture, attire, culture, and traditional ceremonies of this old Abyaneh have been well preserved. For example,  Women continue to wear the village’s traditional long white flowery headscarves. Tourists can help Abyaneh’s sustainable tourism by purchasing local goods. In fact, villagers make a living selling dried apples, mint, chamomile, and other herbs.

2. Kandovan Village

Kandovan is one of the East Azarbaijan province’s villages in Osku city. Kandovan is one of the oldest Iran tourism villages. It dates back to over 7000 years ago. It was designated as one of Iran’s national treasures in 1997. Kandovan is known for the conical shape of its dwellings, which are made of rocks and are situated on a local mountain.

Abyaneh past dwellers have carved the distinctive style of these dwellings out of volcanic rocks of Sahand Mountain. Another amazing thing about the construction is that they didn’t use any materials like gypsum, lime, or clay to build them. The rocks are the consequence of thousands of years of eruption.

The fact that everyday life continues here between volcanic cliffs distinguishes Kandovan from similar places. While visiting the homes of Kandovan’s residents, tourists have the opportunity to purchase handicrafts, herbs, and spices made by the locals.

They can stay in a local hotel or a local house and enjoy a memorable experience. It’s fascinating to learn that these rocky houses include several areas, such as a living room or a kitchen. Some of them even have running water and electricity, just like a regular house.

3. Filband Village

Mazandaran’s Filband seems like it came straight out of a fairytale book. This village, which appears to be above the sky, is noted for its spectacular sunsets. Any tourist must watch as the sun descends into the puffy clouds of Filband at least once in their life!

Filband is one of the most popular Iran tourism villages, especially with big-city residents. Alpine meadows dotted with grazing sheep, free-roaming hens and chicks, and cottages dotting the terrain make this one of the best spots to get away from it all. In Filband, you can escape the heat of other parts of Iran and enjoy the cooler air at a higher altitude. That’s why it’s also one of the top Iran summer destinations.

Visitors to Filband village will see the peaks of the Alborz mountain range to the south and the Caspian Hyrcanian Mixed Forests and lush lowlands to the north. Tourists can also relax in the village’s wooden huts while sipping hot Persian tea and watching the clouds glide by.

4. Uraman Takht Village

Hawraman, also known as Uraman Takht, is a village in Iran’s Kurdistan province’s Sarvabad county. The village of Hawraman in Kurdistan is registered as Hawraman, which is located in the heart of the highlands and has a stepped architecture of buildings (thus the name “Hezar Masouleh”), with stones placed on top of each other and houses built without mortar.

Each house’s roofs are the courtyards of other houses, which are referred to as “Heyvan” in the local language. The buildings are carved in harmony with nature at the foot of the mountain. In village architecture, such a balance is less typical.

In this city, the “Pir-e-Shaliar” ceremony is well-known. Pir-e Shaliar, an Iranian Kurdish folk hero, is revered for his purported magical healing abilities and mojo. People believed he can populate the land with livestock and crops in times of distress. The figure is thought to have originated in the pre-Islamic Zoroastrian periods.

6. Palangan Village

Palangan village is one of Kurdistan province’s most beautiful villages. Palangan has been designated as a cultural heritage site in Iran. As one of the undiscovered Iran tourism villages, it has the title of “Lost Paradise” and “Masouleh of Kurdistan.” Additionally, it has a famous stepped architecture and gorgeous scenery.

There are no modern buildings in this village, but there are multi-story houses as far as the eye can see, with one house’s roof serving as the yard of another.
